Cerritos Ironwood 9 - August 1st

I got to play 9 holes after work today. I join Julian and his son Julian Jr. on the course.

It was a beautiful day on the course. I missed GOLF!!!

It was nicest time of the day to play too!

On the 9th fairway, I hit my drive into the water hazard and it popped right back out on the shore! My playing partners laughed and said that I should have video taped it! I shot a so-so 46 but putted a low 15! Hmmm, maybe I should reconsider getting a new (expensive) putter!

It was good to golf again after three weeks off!

Norwalk Golf Center

Played 9 holes with my coworker Jeff at Norwalk. I went to Ironwood first but couldn't get on. And then discovered that I was missing my favorite putter!!! Sad!

I shot a 40/21 at Norwalk and used my older backup putter. I guess I'm gonna have to shell out another $100 for a replacement!

Brea Creek GC

Played 9 holes at Brea Creek on Saturday. Shot a 45/17 (one of my lower scores at BC)

Unfortunately, I realize almost a week later that I left my favorite putter outside the clubhouse (my Odyssey 2 ball)!!

Little Rec in Long Beach

Played 9 holes with four of my coworkers at Long Beach's "Little Rec" GC after work today. A nice way to kick off the Fourth of the July weekend.

Wai and Jeff on the putting green

walking down the #5 fairway, although I didn't think I played that well, it was a 7% improvement from the last time I played this course (back in March 2007).

We wanted to go to L & L Hawaiian BBQ but they closed early for the Fourth of July Holiday so we went next door to Cha for Tea (sort a modern fusion Asian Tea Bar / Restaurant). It was pretty decent.

9 holes at BHGC

lots of divots here!

ball on #6

teeing off on #7, which I also par'ed.

finished up the front 9 at 7:54pm and promptly left (didn't want to get lock in again).

It was fun, got 3 pars today.

18 holes at Birch Hills (and locked in!!)

A golf course is a great way to spend a relaxing Sunday especially if most of the sports mind LA folks are going be watching the Lakers play the Celtics in game 2 of the NBA finals (I had a bad feeling about tonight's game too). The golf course was nearly deserted!

I played with a group of Korean Americans in pickup game. They reserved their tee time on line (for the Sundowner special for $10 each) while I walked on and paid the Super Twilight rate for $19.00! Being Chinese, I wanted to get in all 18 holes if I was paying top dollar (but this would come back to bite me)!

This is the first time I've played at Birch Hills this year (the last time being in December 2007). I felt alittle rusty and didn't hit as well as I wanted. I only managed a couple pars on the front 9.

I wasn't hitting very straight today.

I did get one GIR (greens in regulations) on #8 and had a chance for birdie but settled for par instead.

We finished at almost 7:00pm and it was still light (first 9 holes took about an hour and 45 minutes).

The 2nd 9 holes took about an hour and a half. I finished with a 94/35 (46/17 on front 9 and 48/18 on the back 9).

My foursome was all happy to have finished on this Sunday evening and was ready to go home for a late supper. Unfortunately, the BHGC staff decided to lock us in. I was totally panic stricken at first since this hadn't happen to me the first 36 times I played at BHGC.

Celebration turned into panic as all of us called various people for help. I called my roomie for the Brea PD phone #. I did manage to get the dispatcher but got the official disclaimer that if the parking lot was posted, the PD isn't going to come out to unlock the gate. Thankfully, the Dispatcher got ahold of the management of the golf course and they agreed to come out and let our three cars out of the parking lot. We ended up trapped for less than an hour after finishing out 18 holes into darkness!

Fortunately, I didn't have to abandon my car at the golf course overnight. BTW it was still a good decision to skip the Laker game to play golf (the Laker lost their 2nd game to the Celtics tonight!).

Driving range at Norwalk

keeping score (and the pencil in my mouth)

I ended up hitting my 9I pin high to the flag but missed the green right.

My putt stop on the edge of the #4 hole!

Still it was fun going out after hitting 75 ball on the driving range at GP. I scored a 41/18 with no pars and only one GIR.

Norwalk Golf Center - May 13 2008

9 holes at Norwalk ... I really sucked today (my big excuse was that I used my old backup clubs) ... whatever!

It was a nice cool day out in Norwalk.

Norwalk Golf Center

Played at the local "Pitch n' Putt" golf course after work with a couple of my coworkers.

Here's Jeff teeing off at #1 hole. At this course, we have hit off the mats.

most of the holes were about 100 yards or so.

At #9, we have to hit over a small pond.

Here's Charlie teeing off

Charlie approves of all the improvements that the City of Norwalk put in since the last time he and Jeff played (over 8 years ago).

I actually had a pretty good time, the price was pretty cheap (cheaper than going to the driving range) and I hit alot of good shots and made a couple pars for score of 37 with 17 putts. I definately will be coming back to take advantage of the $3 twilight special!

Golfing again - Fullerton GC

Finally got to play again after 7 weeks off! We got the $5 - 10 special twilight special ($10 for a cart). It turned out really well, we started off at 4:5opm and got the first 9 holes in by 6:38pm. No waiting at all for us. However there was a huge line up behind us.

Here's Wai teeing off at #1

Wai watching Charlie's putt

Charlie makes an approach shot on #9

Wai and I went to Farmer's Brother for dinner afterwards.

We managed to play thru most of 13 holes. Overall, I tried not to take my golfing too serious. I hit some really good shots as well as some really sucky shots. I lost about two or three sleeve of balls (1 sleeve of yellow ball all in a roll on the back 9). But it was fun riding them golf carts and hit ball down range. It's nice to be back!
