LA Royal Vista Golf Club

Los Angeles Royal Vista Golf Club in Rowland Heights

DB is wearing his new Nike golf cap and shirt today!

Here's Jeff teeing off

Sunset at RVGC

DB finishing the front 9 (South) by 5:22pm ... about 3 hours and 45 minutes to play 9 holes.

Finishing the back 9 (East) by 7:35pm

I shot a nasty high score (which I won't write here) but I think I deserve my 36.4 handicap for sure!! The South/East course combination totals on paper about 6,300 yards and took us five hours to play! I need to work on getting ride of my slicing in my drives and on my short game. I think I lost about 7 or 8 balls today too!

Hopefully, I'll do better on my next 18 holes!

Cerritos Ironwood 9 - August 29th

I got to play 9 holes after work today!

I didn't hit all that well but I got to PLAY GOLF!

Mike, whom I've met the last time I was at Cerritos did pretty good! He was having a great day! Me, I got in the water hazard twice (#2 and #9) and got no pars at all but it was still a 2% improvement over the last time I was at Ironwood Nine!

Also earlier in the week, I got new grips and shorten my new/used Odyssey 2-ball putter:

Cerritos Ironwood 9 - Afterwork

got to play 9 holes today after work

got paired with two older gentlemen, Brian and Mike. I think they actually did better than I did but you what they say ... "A bad day golfing is better than a good day at work!" Definately!

Busy Golfing Sunday

After shopping at Sports Authorities again for my replacement putter, I decided to take my friends advice and go to the nearest Roger Dunn Golf Shop (in Anaheim).

I finally saw "The Island" golf center, the freaking driving range is over water!

Oh, and I broke down and bought my new (used) 2ball Odssey putter too!

Well, here's a "floater" range ball that's going out over water!

teeing up!

Those little "islands" are not as far as they look (my handy dandy laser range finder gave me the actual distances)!

The driving range setup was kinda of difference from the regular ones.

After hitting a large bucket of balls into the water, I practiced putting with my new "White Hot" Odssey 2ball putter at Birch Hills Golf Course.

I was able to get a tee time with a father and son group at the "Sundowner" rate. The play was slow but I did manage to shoot a 42/20 on 9 holes and we finished slightly longer than two hours.

Pickup up a combo bowl from Yoshinoya on my way home. I guess it was my "Victory Dinner".

Cerritos Ironwood 9 - August 1st

I got to play 9 holes after work today. I join Julian and his son Julian Jr. on the course.

It was a beautiful day on the course. I missed GOLF!!!

It was nicest time of the day to play too!

On the 9th fairway, I hit my drive into the water hazard and it popped right back out on the shore! My playing partners laughed and said that I should have video taped it! I shot a so-so 46 but putted a low 15! Hmmm, maybe I should reconsider getting a new (expensive) putter!

It was good to golf again after three weeks off!

Norwalk Golf Center

Played 9 holes with my coworker Jeff at Norwalk. I went to Ironwood first but couldn't get on. And then discovered that I was missing my favorite putter!!! Sad!

I shot a 40/21 at Norwalk and used my older backup putter. I guess I'm gonna have to shell out another $100 for a replacement!

Brea Creek GC

Played 9 holes at Brea Creek on Saturday. Shot a 45/17 (one of my lower scores at BC)

Unfortunately, I realize almost a week later that I left my favorite putter outside the clubhouse (my Odyssey 2 ball)!!

Little Rec in Long Beach

Played 9 holes with four of my coworkers at Long Beach's "Little Rec" GC after work today. A nice way to kick off the Fourth of the July weekend.

Wai and Jeff on the putting green

walking down the #5 fairway, although I didn't think I played that well, it was a 7% improvement from the last time I played this course (back in March 2007).

We wanted to go to L & L Hawaiian BBQ but they closed early for the Fourth of July Holiday so we went next door to Cha for Tea (sort a modern fusion Asian Tea Bar / Restaurant). It was pretty decent.

lots of divots here!

finished up the front 9 at 7:54pm and promptly left (didn't want to get lock in again).

It was fun, got 3 pars today.

18 holes at Birch Hills (and locked in!!)

A golf course is a great way to spend a relaxing Sunday especially if most of the sports mind LA folks are going be watching the Lakers play the Celtics in game 2 of the NBA finals (I had a bad feeling about tonight's game too). The golf course was nearly deserted!

I played with a group of Korean Americans in pickup game. They reserved their tee time on line (for the Sundowner special for $10 each) while I walked on and paid the Super Twilight rate for $19.00! Being Chinese, I wanted to get in all 18 holes if I was paying top dollar (but this would come back to bite me)!

This is the first time I've played at Birch Hills this year (the last time being in December 2007). I felt alittle rusty and didn't hit as well as I wanted. I only managed a couple pars on the front 9.

I wasn't hitting very straight today.

I did get one GIR (greens in regulations) on #8 and had a chance for birdie but settled for par instead.

We finished at almost 7:00pm and it was still light (first 9 holes took about an hour and 45 minutes).

The 2nd 9 holes took about an hour and a half. I finished with a 94/35 (46/17 on front 9 and 48/18 on the back 9).

My foursome was all happy to have finished on this Sunday evening and was ready to go home for a late supper. Unfortunately, the BHGC staff decided to lock us in. I was totally panic stricken at first since this hadn't happen to me the first 36 times I played at BHGC.

Celebration turned into panic as all of us called various people for help. I called my roomie for the Brea PD phone #. I did manage to get the dispatcher but got the official disclaimer that if the parking lot was posted, the PD isn't going to come out to unlock the gate. Thankfully, the Dispatcher got ahold of the management of the golf course and they agreed to come out and let our three cars out of the parking lot. We ended up trapped for less than an hour after finishing out 18 holes into darkness!

Fortunately, I didn't have to abandon my car at the golf course overnight. BTW it was still a good decision to skip the Laker game to play golf (the Laker lost their 2nd game to the Celtics tonight!).
