Fountain Valley David L Baker GC

Played with the guys from work today at David L Baker Memorial Golf Course in Fountain Valley (in the Mile Square Park). It's a par 62 course very similar to my home course, Birch Hills (a par 59 executive / short course). This is considered a medium course and my first time here.

It was a nice sunny and cool Saturday afternoon. We tee'd off at 11:30am.

So I played with the three guys that I rarely ever beat.

Jeff is one of the better players in our group.

There were alot of water hazards and bunkers. I managed not to lose a single ball in the water and only hit into the bunker / sand trap only once.

I didn't putt as well as I wanted to (having to four-putt once and three putted a few time) but over 18 holes I managed to putt only 37 times on the green. I don't remembering putting once off the green since I chipped in mostly. I thought the green were kinda of tricky and fast!

The course was kinda of dried up looking ...

despite all the water nearby.

I think of the four of us, I probably did alittle better on my drives and even hit the green four time.

Here's Jeff driving to the green. I think both he and I both hit the green on this on and I manage to save par on this hole (#12).

We waited for a little while on #13 and then a bunch of ducks started crowding the tee box in front of me ... tempting me to make a real "birdie" on my drive.

"Duck Whisperer" Charlie finally couldn't stand it and shoo'd the ducks off the tee box.

We finally finished the 18th hole at 4:08 pm. I found out later that I had beaten Jeff by 2 strokes eventhough he certain putted much better than I did. My four pars help me shoot an 86 (42/20 on the front 9 and 44/17 on the back 9). It was one of my best efforts to date. Jeff said that he was coming after me next time!

Afterwards, the four of us had a late lunch / early dinner at Magnolia Cafe in Fountain Valley.

It was good ol' home style cooking! I had the meatloaf n mashed potatoe Sunset special for $6.89. It was good!

Overall a great time hanging out with the guys from the office!

Twilight golf at Dad Miller's

This was my first drive after taking a 9 day break from golf!

my first drive with my 3 wood went a couple hundred yard from the green ... unfortunately, my short game still stinks!

I was blessed to play with my friend and former coworker Jeff in wonderful weather and absolutely no pressure from other golfers today!

What a great day on the course!

Super Twilight round at Birch Hills

Played 15 holes today at Birch. Shot a 40/20 on the front nine and got to #15 before it got too dark (par'd # 5 and #11 holes).
