Short game practice at Norwalk GC

After a so so round at Brea Creek on Sunday, I wanted to work on my short game on the cheap.

I played a lot of 2nd balls and mulligans so my scoring today was pretty bogus ... but it was sure fun to take the pressure off of myself and just enjoy hitting nice drives and putting (and re-putting).

I enjoyed my $9 worth of practice on the ol' "pitch n' putt" course!

Lose It Badge

Pretty cool, I was awarded a "Hole in One" badge from "Lose It" (iPhone calorie counting app) for playing golf 10 times

Congratulations,

You have earned the Hole in One badge! You have gone golfing at least 10 times in the last month!

9 holes at Brea Creek GC

Smiling because I got to play 9 holes on a beautiful sunny California day with three great guys that I just met (and NOT about how bad I played). Also, I got the use the $7 email special for the twilight outing (normally $13).

The Clubhouse at Brea Creek Golf Course. The Player Improvement program is being restructured so the ad for it is alittle misleading. But it's was a great deal for $19 a month and $5 for green fees with or without a cart. Also the driving range is being renovated so it'll be closed until June 7th.

Here's Mike, Doug, and Leo ... three great guys that I met today. Very encouraging and helped me while I was struggling big time on the course today.

I played my very first round of golf here almost six years ago (April 22, 2006) with my Isuzu coworkers and unfortunately if you looked at my scores from today compared to then ... looks like I didn't improved at all (but I sure can hit a lot further with my clubs now)! Need to really work on my short game and putting.

It was a good day to be out on the golf course!

18 Holes at Norwalk Golf Center

After checking out the nice Navy courses in Cypress, went to the "pitch n' putt" course at Norwalk to tune up the ol' short game.

Played the executive 9 hole course twice and got the same number of strokes for 18 holes as I did on the previous day although I ended putting more.

Navy Course - Cypress

Finally got to check out the Navy course in nearby Cypress. They have both a full 18 hole ($42) and a 9 hole executive course ($24) and a very nice proshop and restaurant.

Reminder that even though the course is opened to the public, non military visitors must check in at the proshop and are subject to random military security checks.

Very nice facilities. Hope to come back sometime to play around of golf.

27 holes of golf (Ironwood Nine & Norwalk Golf Ctr)

Introduced Aaron to the local executive course in Cerritos.

Warmed up on the driving range before our 9:20 tee time.

Here's Aaron taking his first drive on the course. He hit it pretty straight and in the middle of the fairway. I sliced my pitching wedge shot right into the street and had to take a penalty drop ... not a good start for me.

At the end of 9 holes, Aaron was beating me by 15 strokes! He did great on his first time on this challenging short course.

Here's Aaron using his dad's brand new Callaway driver over water for the 151 yards to the green ... he did what I did (using my 5-iron), skimmed his ball over the top of the water and rolled it passed the green by 10 yards. But he did managed to par the last hole. I missed my par opportunity and bogeyed my 1 foot putt (just like I.K. Kim did two weeks ago)!

Great Game for Mister Aaron Jeu! I look forward to our rematch in the future and hopefully will put in a better performance (and example for him)!

Since Aaron had an appointment later in the afternoon, we quit for lunch at Islands in Fullerton.

ROUND TWO for Delta Boy .....

Feeling very rusty after losing by 15 strokes ... went to the local "pitch n' putt" range to work on the short game.

Played 18 holes (9 holes twice) and shot and 86/38. Gotta work on those approach shots and my putting game!
