Sunday Sundowner at Birch Hill

I was just going to hit some balls on the driving range but the course was wide open so I went and played 9 holes. Met a nice older couple, Bill and Mary.
My opening tee shot landed just short and right of the green.

I hit a great 6I shot on a slope just past the green on the 5th hole but I missed my par when I started trying some bump n run with my AW!
I had a great 256 yard drive on the 4th fairway with my driver but I mis-hit an easy pitching shot that would have giving me a birdie opportunity on the green!

Sun filtering through the trees on the 5th fairway.

I hit another straight shot with my driver on the 5th fairway. My ball was just past the 100 yard red stake (using my rangefinder, I estimated my drive went 218 yards).
Sun setting over the Birch Hills driving range
My 7I tee shot landed on the top right slope just off the green, unfortunately I blew my par opportunity when I 3 putted after my chip shot went too far!

It was a nice round of golf, eventhough I didn't par a single hole, I shot 6 stroke less (and putted 4 less) than my Friday score. It was a nice 12% improvement!

Played 9 holes with some really cool Christians from Calvery Chapel after work today.

Beautiful surroundings (too bad my golfing was pretty ugly)!

Bunkering lessons at Cerritos Iron-Wood

Back to Iron-Wood for more lessons

Today is "Bunkers" - ball is position forward of stance (draw a line thru the ball), hit about an inche behind ball with leading edge.

It was fun for a while.

Such a nice fresh fairway!

As Mark Twain is quoted, " Golf is a nice walk spoiled!"

A nice sunset, we played into darkness (literally).

9 holes at La Mirada GC on Father's Day

After watching "Fantastic Four" I really wanted to play golf today! So I had a really late lunch and went down the street to the La Mirada Golf Course (figuring that it would be kinda of empty since it was Father's Day).

I tee'd off by myself but ended up joining three other folks. I had some pretty good shots, and some almost birdie chip-ins but I didn't make it.

It was a relaxing afternoon out on the course.

The guys I played with were really nice.

We finished up by 8:00pm but I went out to shoot the 10th hole and ended up practicing my chip shot on the 11th green.

Twilight golf at La Mirada GC

Carl and I played 9 holes at La Mirada today

There was a company tournment going on so the play was slow.

Here's the view of the #3 fairway, I hit a nice 5W shot to the fringe (about 180 yds).

Here's where my ball ended up after my 5w drive, I had just missed the bunker by inches. I was able to chip on to the green close to the flag but ended up 2-putting for a bogey on the par 3.

I totally screwed up at the #5 hole, I almost hit one of the guys like 3 times.

Here's Carl putting on #5 as Ryan looks on.

View of the #6 fairway, I started off great with a terrific tee shot in the middle of the fairway but then messed up the rest of my shots on this hole.

Sunset at La Mirada GC, it was a beautiful cool day!

Here's Carl getting ready to tee off on the #7. Once again, I had a great tee shot and a great 2nd shot with my 3W but then I had terrible pitching and chipping and ended up taking a 10/2!

Finally made it to the 9th hole. I over - teed with my 5 wood but made a terrific shot in between a metal box on the ground and some over hanging tree limbs to land about 2 foot from the hole. I made a nice par save. Overall, I shot a 59/18 but I had lot of good memories of great shots that I did make.
