Twilight at Lakewood CC

Played an impromptu round of "Twilight Golf" at the Lakewood Country Club near the Long Beach Airport today. One of my FB friends asked if I was going to be "Jacob or Edwards" ... huh? I don't remember ever seeing vampires or werewolves on the golf course but then you'll never know who you're really playing with huh?!

My friend E called in for the online Golfzing.com special for the "Twilight" rates including a cart. Our start time was 4:37pm and we managed to get in 15 complete holes before darkness. I had time to warm up on the driving range before E arrived.

Aaah, felt so good to finally to golf after being away for a few months (since February).

Unfortunately, I lost some balls on the first couple holes. I think these geese ate one of them!

My eyes had to get use to looking for that little white ball on the fairway (and under trees, etc ...). Eventually I switched over to neon color balls to keep track of where I was hitting them!

This was the tee box view of the #3 hole, par 3 about 163 from the blue markers ... I nailed the bushes on the left twice before hitting my third shot across the water hazard to just below the greens. I found my 2nd ball next to the left of the greens but decided to use my 3rd ball (deciding that one was more playable).

I think this was my 2nd or 3rd shot on the 4th green from a bunker/sand shots. I was pretty pleased with my sand play except I didn't follow up with my putting!

Here's E teeing off on the 6th tee box. He had just came from work so he wasn't in his usual golf attire.

Here's my mid-fairway position on the 6th, I was lucky to hit a nice long drive right into the middle. Most of the holes we played were par 4's and 5's.

E punching out his shot from the 6th fairway.

We got in our first 9 holes in about 2 hours with a foursome in front of us.

Full moon rising over a darkening fairway. It got pretty chilly and windy toward the end of the day in the Long Beach area!

So we got in 15 completed holes and called it quits eventhough we could have played one more hole with the exiting lighting but it was getting backed up on the course. All in all, it was a nice return to the course and my second time playing here.

We headed back to the OC near home for dinner. Uh, heavy Mexican food but we did get in four hours of golfing so that's gotta count for some calorie burn, huh?
