Lakewood Country Club

Played 9 plus extra holes at Lakewood CC today.

Lakewood has a really nice setup and is practically across from the Long Beach Airport.

Here the tunnel to access the other half of the course under Carson street.

Water Hazards were everywhere and I knocked two balls in today.

Well, I guess we're ready to start!

Here's the snack shop between #2, #3 and #10 holes.

Here's Eugen taking a swing.

Here's Travis bombing another drive!

Oh no! Someone got a birdie! (actually, we found this poor coot already laid out and it wasn't us!)

We only made it to Hole #12 before it start getting dark.

There was a beautiful sunset at the course today.

There was also a very bright orange Harvest moon tonight too!

I didn't get to play more than 11 holes but it was mostly fun today!

Twilight at Brea Creek GC

Had to scratch the golfing "itch" today ... I went to Birch Hills first at 3pm but they were full and Sundowner rate didn't start until 4:00 (it turns dark at 5:00)! After practicing putting for about 20 minutes, I packed up my clubs and drove over to their sister course at Brea Creek. I got on immediately and for the same $12 as Birch Hill's Sundowner rate.

I started alittle better than I had the last time was at Brea Creek until I got to the 5th course ...

Like the last time I was here I had a pretty good drive the #5 fairway ...

My drive went about 202 yards (about 133 yards from the green according to my lazer rangefinder) but like the last time I slice my fairway shot badly into the slopes on the right of the green ...

I ended up taking a freaking 9/3 on this dang hole!!

On the always scary #6 course where you had to shoot over the bridge and drainage ditch, I hit a 5 iron shot right into the middle palm tree left of the greens. I ended taking a 4/2 bogey from #6.

The guys ahead of me on #7 invited me to join them to finish up the rest of the course. Here's the view of the #1 green from the hill side of #7 course.

We finished at 5:04 pm just before it got really dark. I shot a 46/21 today (not including the penalty for switching balls with one of my partners right at the end - we both ended up playing the wrong ball onto the green). Oh well, at least I didn't lose a lunch bet on this one!

Afternoon at Cerritos Ironwood

Cerritos Ironwood Nine is one my favorite executive course!

I had a couple pretty good drives #2 and #4 courses both par 4's.

Yup, I still tee up with these Wal-mart golf balls!

It was a beautiful fall afternoon! I shot a 48/19 today.

LB Big Rec Redux

Back to "Big Rec" today!

Rodney relishing his first birdie of the day!

My big highlight of the day came on the 2nd par 3 of the day. I almost had a hole in one with my 7I shot on the green that landed in front of the flag pole and almost rolled in. Unfortunately, I choked after Rodney told me not to short-putt and Eugene bet me lunch if I save Par. I missed my birdie and par tries (grrrrrrr!).

It was a beautiful cool day in Long Beach today!

We finished playing 9 holes by 3:40pm and went on to play thru #14 by 5:09 pm before it got too dark.

Afterwards, we went to Lai Lai Ken in Anaheim for dinner and watched the USC - Cal Bear game ('SC pulled out a win. Eugene was happy; he had a nice bet on it!).

Cerritos Ironwood with Wilson

Played 9 holes with Wilson this morning at Ironwood Nine.

Thanks to Wilson, I have this cool sequences of shots (unfortunately, I sliced this one and had to take a drop for a lost ball but pretty cool, huh)!

Here's Wilson on his first drive of the day.

Here's he is taking a nice shot over the water hazard.

I was playing cold the first few holes but I almost got this chip in!

Here's Wilson taking a long putt!

Here, he's taking a chip shot.

The #8 hole, next to last.

DB at #9

Wilson goes for another long putt at #9

It was fun! I didn't do as well as week but I did par'd the last hole!
