Welcome to my newest blog: Db's Golfing Adventures!
I must be addicted to this "sport", not only do I blog about it; I got up at freaking 4:00 am for a 6:12 tee time on a Sunday morning (and there were no "trout" or "deers" involved)! I even dreamt about golfing this morning!
I got there alittle earlier before Wai and her brother arrived. It was weird, at the very same time Tiger Woods was getting ready to go for his third British Open on TV (in the clubhouse).
The three of us got partner up with a fourth person, a really nice guy name Jess. It started off to be a beautiful if not HOT morning. It started reminding me of why I left my home state of Mississippi 'cause it was getting muggy, hot, and humid!!
Just within playing the first four holes of golf, I was already soaked - Yuck!! It certainly didn't help my playing any either! The scary thing was that by 5th or 6th hole we started seeing rain off in the distances and LIGHTING STRIKES coming our way!! Everytime someone get ready to take a swing, a flash of lighting would go off like a camera flash!
When the lighting started to get really close, the range's "Golf Marshal" came around in her little red "Marshal" cart (she must have been in her late 60's) telling folks something ... but she didn't exactly say outloud so we didn't exactly know what she was telling everyone. But everyone else in front of us at the 10th hole and higher all left!
She came back and finally said "You're playing at your own risk!" ... oh, we all said ... "so that's what's she's saying". Foolish or not, we playing on thru (us and the group right behind us) afterall it was totally wide open now!
Oh, we paid for it, it was already humid, hot, the grass was wet and then it started raining off an on with lighting bolts falling just off in the distances. Probably not the smartest thing I've ever done but hey, I paid my greens fee and was right in the middle of the course!
I wanted to take a photo of the lighting in the background but it was never consistant enough to know where it would strike next (hopefully not on us!).
Well, we did finish in about three hours, and my score was okay ... I took a few double pars and mostly boogied or double boogied everthing else. I had some really good tee shot toward the end at the 15th, 16th and 17th holes (got the right distances but need to straighten out my shots).
Finally finished at about 10:50 am or so. I was going to go to church straight from the golf course (and would have made it on time) but I was ONE BIG STICKY SWEATBALL ... so I did everone at church a favor and went home to shower and clean up before going to church.
As it turned out, I caught most of Pastor Kevin's message and stayed for the quarterly business meeting and luncheon.
It was a good (and HOT/HUMID) day!

p.s. I heard on the radio that Tiger won this weekend's British Open (his 3rd) and I heard for his recently deceased dad, Earl. Nice going Tiger!!
