Three-Peat Rounds at Birch Hills

(July 29 – 31, 2007)

Sunday – 9 holes on the front (47/21) joined up with Bill, Shaun and Matt from 5:58 - 7:51pm.

Notables:
1. Hit green on #1 but missed birdie/par opportunities with 3 putting.
2. Difficult time keeping tee shots straight (hooked/sliced on #2 and 3).
3. Good drive on #4 (approx 230 yards); bogey #4.
4. Sliced #5 driver tee shot; double bogey.
5. Par’d #6 with PW and 2-putt.
6. 7-Iron too much on #7, had to chip back for bogey 2-putt.
7. Hooked and lost (and later found) tee shot at #8, had trouble pitching ball back on green.
8. Double par’d #9 with two 6-Iron tee shots, short chip, putt off, 2-putt in; a terrible finish.

Monday – 9 holes on the front (51/18) played with Tom and Mike from 6:19 – 8:09 pm.

Notables:
1. Probably the worst stroke play on the front 9 in months at BH.
2. Great 9-Iron tee shot on green at #2 but failed to convert a 4’ birdie/par opportunity.
3. Slicing my driver shot on #4
4. Topped 3W tee shot short on #5 but recovered with a solid hit with 5-Iron.
5. Missed #5 green from 20’ with PW, had to 2-putt off green and 2-putt to double bogey
6. Par’d #9 hole with PW close to green, 1 putt on green, and short putt in.

Tuesday – 9 holes on the back (46/16, including 2 pars and a birdie) played with Tammy and Russell from 6:15 – 7:50 pm.

Notables:
1. Only one out four Driver shots was decent (sliced the other 3).
2. Continue to hit 5-Iron solid and long!
3. Problems with pitching (PW / short game)
4. 3 out 4 7-Wood drives were good
5. “Splashed” three balls into the water hazard (#11 and #15)
6. Good distances with 7-Iron
7. Two drives on green (both converted to Par and Birdie, respectively).
8. Best scoring (total strokes and putting) on back 9 to-date.
9. Great finish on #18, with a long 6-Iron on green shot, followed by a 3’ birdie putt!
10. We got yelled at for cutting in front another group that was playing a full 18 hole and for “not” keeping pace (we did cut in when there was no one on the tee box and we definitely kept pace – we ended up moving out a hole ahead).
